Each week consists of three lectures and two labs, in which students will manipulate real-world data and learn about statistical and computational tools. Students will engage with fundamental ideas in inferential and computational thinking. Given the high academic standard and excellent motivation letters, the final selection was again very challenging: all of the students we interviewed were worthy candidates for the SSIHP program. This course will provide a hands-on introduction to statistics and data science. Also the student’s ability to represent Aalto at Stanford affected the final decision. The interviews were an essential part of the selection process. Excellent English language communication skills and a strong academic recommendation were naturally required. The final selection was based on motivation and vision, academic performance and relevance of the preliminary study plan. ![]() We organized three group interviews with 4-6 students in each interview.
